Is this the first translucent PowerBook? This is a prototype of McMobile portable built in 1986-7 using Mac Plus parts. It has EL panel display, full-size keyboard, trackball (upside-down mouse actually), internal lead-acid battery lasting 15-30 minutes, floppy drive and hard drive - all in 15 inch by 13 inch by 4.25 inch translucent case, weighing ONLY 15 pounds. In 1987-8, the second prototype was built using smaller casing, 13x13x4 with Sharp LCD panel. Sharp rep was astonished that their panel actually worked with Mac. Following the second unit, the third prototype was built in even smaller case, 9.75x13x4. It was taken to a real field test by one of investors.
